How Job Fairs Suck

So yesterday, I went to a job fair. And it was horrible. In this economy, probably 1,000 people showed up, and while there was supposed to be a promised 150 companies, there were about fifteen, including the army (hey, it’s great for some, not so much for others- like me). Everything was about sales, and most likely to work on commission. Needless to say, it was disappointing. It was so disappointing, in fact, that when I was taking the train back to my internship, I missed my stop, and had to get off at the next one- call my intern lady, and have her pick me up.

What’s even more embarrassing about missing my stop is that the whole day was not terrible- I had an awesome lunch with friends, got to see parts of Boston I hadn’t, reaffirm my love of Boston, and go to the Museum of Fine Arts- always a pleasure. So the fact that I was dwelling on the career fair, thinking “woe is me” and that making me miss my stop makes me feel even more ridiculous. It makes a good story, though.
